Your crown, denture, or implant restoration is designed and fabricated in this building by technicians who can walk down the hall and look at your teeth — and we take cases from other dentists across West Michigan too.
How it works
What to expect with dental laboratory
- Step 1
Digital capture
Intraoral scanning replaces impression trays for most cases. The digital file is more accurate, it does not distort in transit, and it can be re-used if a restoration ever needs remaking.

Design and fabrication
Restorations are designed in CAD software and produced by milling or 3D printing, then hand-finished and characterized by our technicians for natural translucency and surface texture.
- Step 3
Verification with the patient present
Shade matching and try-ins happen with you in the building. Our technicians see how light moves through your natural teeth rather than working from a photograph.

The basics
About dental laboratory
A dental laboratory is where restorations are actually made. The dentist prepares the tooth and captures the shape; the laboratory technician designs, fabricates, and finishes the crown, bridge, denture, or implant component that goes in your mouth. The technician's skill determines whether the margins seal, whether the bite is even, and whether the tooth looks real.
When the lab is off site, every question becomes a shipping cycle. A shade that reads slightly wrong, a contact that is a hair tight, a denture tooth set a millimeter too far forward — each of those means boxing the case up and losing a week. When the lab is in the building, the technician can see the patient, and the correction happens the same day.

What we fabricate
Our laboratory produces the full range of restorative work:
- Crowns and onlays — all-ceramic and zirconia, milled and characterized by hand
- Bridges — from single-span to full-arch, including implant-supported designs
- Complete and partial dentures — including implant-retained overdentures
- Implant restorations — custom abutments and the crowns or bridges that seat on them
- Night guards and occlusal splints — for teeth grinding and bite protection
- Maxillofacial prosthetics — specialized prostheses for patients with surgical or congenital defects
Analog and digital, deliberately
We staff both workflows because they are good at different things.
Our digital side runs intraoral scanning, CAD design, milling, and 3D printing. It is fast, repeatable, and the accuracy on fixed work like crowns and bridges is excellent. A scan can also be archived and reused if a restoration ever needs remaking years later.
Our analog side is led by a Certified Dental Technician with certification in complete dentures and more than sixteen years in removable appliance design. For denture work — where tooth positioning, lip support, and the way a smile reads are judgments rather than measurements — experienced hands still produce a better result.

We accept laboratory cases from practices throughout West Michigan. Providers work directly with the technician handling their case rather than a customer service queue, which shortens the loop when a case needs discussion.

Yes. We use intraoral scanning, CAD design software, milling, and 3D printing. We also retain traditional analog technique, which still produces the best results for certain removable cases.
Are the materials safe?+
We use FDA-cleared, biocompatible dental materials appropriate to each restoration. If you have a known metal sensitivity or material preference, tell us and we will select accordingly.
Do you accept cases from other dental offices?+
Yes. We work with dentists, prosthodontists, and oral surgeons across the Grand Rapids area. Referring providers can contact the practice directly to discuss a case.
Does an in-house lab make treatment faster?+
Usually. Removing shipping time from each cycle shortens most cases, and it eliminates the delay entirely when an adjustment is needed at delivery.
