About dentures
Dentures replace missing teeth and the gum tissue that supported them. A complete denture replaces a full arch; a partial denture fills in around teeth you still have and clasps onto them for stability. Both rest on tissue that changes shape over time, which is why fit is not a one-time achievement. It needs periodic attention.
Modern denture work has moved well beyond the loose, plastic-looking prosthetics many people picture. Digital scanning, better acrylics and tooth materials, and implant attachments have changed what is possible. The most common complaint we hear from new patients is not appearance but slipping, especially on a lower denture, and that is usually solvable with a better-designed base or a couple of implants to snap onto.

Full dentures, partials, and implant-supported options
Complete dentures replace all the teeth in an arch. They rest on the gum tissue and rely on fit, suction, and muscle control to stay in place.
Partial dentures fill the gaps around your remaining teeth. A well-designed partial distributes force so the teeth holding it are not overloaded, a detail that decides whether those teeth survive.
Implant-supported dentures attach to two or more dental implants. They snap in, stay put through a meal, and still come out for cleaning. For patients who have fought a loose lower denture for years, this is usually the answer.
Immediate dentures are placed the same day remaining teeth are removed, so you are never without teeth. Because the tissue shrinks as it heals, they need relining afterward and are best understood as a transitional step.

Denture fabrication is a craft. Our Director of Lab Operations for analog work holds a Certified Dental Technician certification specifically in complete dentures, with more than sixteen years in removable appliance design.
Having that expertise in the building means the technician can see your face, your smile line, and how your lips move: none of which travel with an impression in a box. When an adjustment is needed, it happens in the same visit rather than a week later.

Getting dentures right is a sequence, and skipping steps is why so many dentures disappoint:
- Examination and records: assessing tissue health, ridge shape, and any remaining teeth
- Impressions or digital scans. Capturing the foundation the denture will sit on
- Bite registration. Recording how your jaws relate so the teeth meet correctly
- Try-in: you see and approve tooth position and shade before processing
- Delivery, the finished denture is fitted and the bite refined
- Adjustments. Sore spots in the first weeks are normal and quickly corrected

How long does it take to get dentures?+
A complete denture typically takes several appointments over a few weeks. Records, try-in, delivery, and adjustments. Immediate dentures placed the same day teeth are extracted follow a different sequence and will need relining as the tissue heals.
Will my dentures look fake?+
They should not. Tooth shape, shade, translucency, and how much tooth shows when you smile are all chosen deliberately, and you approve the try-in before anything is finalized. Our technicians can match a photograph of your natural smile if you have one.
Why do lower dentures slip more than upper ones?+
An upper denture gets suction across the palate; a lower one sits on a narrow ridge with the tongue moving beneath it, so there is far less to hold it. This is the single most common denture complaint, and two implants can usually solve it.
What are implant-supported dentures?+
A denture that snaps onto dental implants placed in the jaw. It stays firmly in place while eating and speaking but can still be removed for cleaning. Many patients describe it as the fix that finally made dentures workable.
How do I care for my dentures?+
Clean them daily with a denture brush and a cleaner made for the purpose, not regular toothpaste, which is abrasive. Take them out overnight so the tissue can rest, keep them in water so they do not dry out, and keep your regular checkups.
Do dentures need to be replaced?+
Yes, eventually. The jawbone continues to change shape after teeth are lost, so a denture that fit well can loosen over the years. Relines can extend the life of a denture; full replacement is typically needed every several years.
Can I eat normally with dentures?+
Most foods, yes, though it takes practice. Start with softer foods cut small, chew on both sides at once to keep the denture balanced, and work up. Very hard or sticky foods stay difficult for some patients. Implant support helps considerably.
What is a partial denture?+
A removable prosthesis that replaces some missing teeth while clasping to the natural teeth that remain. It is often the right choice when a fixed bridge is not possible and implants are not an option.
