About general dentistry
Most serious dental problems are silent at the beginning. A cavity does not hurt until it reaches the nerve. Gum disease rarely hurts at all until bone has already been lost. Oral cancer in its early stages is usually painless. By the time a tooth aches, the least expensive window to treat it has generally closed.
That is the entire logic of routine dental visits. A twice-yearly exam with appropriate X-rays finds decay while it is still a small filling, catches gum inflammation while it is still reversible, and screens the soft tissues for anything abnormal. It is unglamorous and it is the highest-value dentistry there is.

Dr. Huber’s view, and the reason she chose general dentistry, is that a healthy body starts in the oral cavity. Dentists are often the first health care providers to spot signs of oral cancer, diabetes, or cardiovascular problems — sometimes before a patient has noticed anything at all.
That is why a routine exam here includes screening the tongue, floor of the mouth, palate, and throat rather than just checking teeth for holes. It takes a couple of extra minutes and it is the part of the visit most worth having.

Most general dental offices refer complex cases out. Here, prosthodontic care is down the hall, and our dental laboratory is in the same building.
Practically, that means if a routine exam turns up a tooth that cannot be saved, or a bite that has worn down over decades, the conversation about implants or reconstruction happens with the specialist who would do the work — not as a referral to another office months later.

How often should I visit the dentist?+
Every six months for most people. Patients with gum disease, a high decay rate, or certain medical conditions do better on a three- or four-month interval. We will recommend a schedule based on what your mouth actually needs.
Do you see children and families?+
Yes. Dr. Huber sees patients of all ages and is well versed in treating children, with a gentle approach aimed at making early dental visits a non-event.
What happens at a first visit?+
A comprehensive exam, digital X-rays if needed, a detailed oral scan, and a cleaning where appropriate. We review everything we find with you before recommending any treatment.
Why do I need X-rays, and are they safe?+
X-rays show decay between teeth and bone levels around the roots — areas a visual exam cannot reach. Modern digital X-rays use a very small dose of radiation, and we take them based on your risk rather than on a fixed schedule.
Does dental work hurt?+
We use local anesthesia and modern technique to keep procedures comfortable. If you are anxious about dental care, tell us — a significant number of our patients came here specifically because of past bad experiences.
What if I have a dental emergency?+
Call the office right away. We keep time available for urgent problems like a broken tooth, a lost crown, swelling, or severe pain.
Do you take my insurance?+
Dr. Huber is in-network with Delta Dental of Michigan. The practice is otherwise fee-for-service, and we file claims on your behalf as a courtesy so reimbursement comes directly to you. Membership plans and financing are also available.
I have not been to a dentist in years. Will I be lectured?+
No. Plenty of our patients arrive after a long gap, often because of a bad experience or cost. We start where you are, prioritize what matters most, and build a plan you can actually work through.
